Do you like cricket?
So, I am happy to talk about anything, but I don’t usually share publicly the general chitchat questions like this. However, this reminded me of a funny story so I have decided to share.
As many of you know I am British but I grew up entirely in Germany. So I have very little knowledge of the British love that is cricket or the American love that is baseball.
When I was 14 my boyfriend took me to Disneyland in Paris. Not my current boyfriend because that would’ve made him in his mid 20s and therefore, subsequently, in a prison cell. My then boyfriend was still too old for me, but he was, just about, still a teenager. Anyway, I was in Disneyland and I decided I wanted to do something American so I went to a little shop and I bought a Mickey Mouse themed baseball bat and a ball.
Outside, in this coach pick up area that was mostly deserted, my boyfriend grabbed the bat and announced we were going to play. He assumed the position and I, with knowledge mostly from movies, launched the ball as hard as I could towards him. The ball was a little bit lower than planned, missing the bat, and hitting him squarely on the knee.
My boyfriend screaming in agony and dropped to the floor almost crying. I, being 14, decided it was best to pretend I wasn’t with him and simply ignored his overly dramatic behaviour.
So, it turns out I had in fact picked up a cricket ball, and not a baseball, and my boyfriend was limping for quite some time! Though no permanent damage seemed to be done. Shame (he later cheated on me)!
So that is my one and only cricketing experience.

I have spent a bit of today going through old paperwork, shredding some things and scanning and archiving others. I found a letter to an old boyfriend thanking him for helping me at a time when I had an eye test. It wasn’t a normal eye test, it was a special one at the hospital that left me rather blind for a short while after. I thanked him for being strong and patient and told him how safe I felt in his arms as he walked me out of the hospital.
This was the first test that I had for MS. It was an optician who told me I had MS and sent me to my doctor. My doctor sent me to the hospital for this test but it came back negative. My eye stopped being weird and I forgot about it until several years later when my walking started to deteriorate and then I was formally diagnosed with MS.
It is weird to think about how life would have played out if I had been correctly diagnosed with MS 10 years ago.

I was looking through some old photos and I found this one, this was taken in the early days of my MS. At this point I was still walking almost normally, occasionally stumbling and once or twice falling flat on my arse. It’s funny looking back, I hated my walking so much because of that stumbling, and now, I would give anything to walk so easily.

Hi everyone!
My iPad turned off yesterday and wouldn’t charge 😭 so I couldn’t do the night with Chrissy thing. I need to get it fixed but boyfriend bought me a new one this afternoon so I didn’t have to go without too long and will have a spare once the other is fixed. I’m going to write up my night soon but not much time left today, so it’ll most likely be tomorrow night we do it.
As a side note, I had the oddest experience this morning. I took a shower and wanted to stand up (it feels nicer) so had my boyfriend in there holding me up while I washed. After the shower he was helping dry me and I was sooooo cold. The room was apparently hot, the towels pre-warmed, yet I was shivering. Not the usual post shower cold, like artic cold! I even bit through a nail trying to stop my teeth chattering. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt that cold. Super odd!

A night in the life of Chrissy!
I got a lot of positive feedback from my day in the life of Chrissy feature the other week. So I’ve decided to do a night in the life of Chrissy. This might sound a little bit dull but I want to show you how often I wake up and the different needs I have during the night. This won’t really work if I keep grabbing my iPad and posting, as it’ll keep me wide awake, so I have a different plan. I am going to record myself this evening, on a voice activated dictaphone, every time I wake up. I will record the time and what I am doing. Then tomorrow I will schedule a whole bunch of posts throughout tomorrow night as though it is happening live!

Q&A SERIES
As your carer is also your boyfriend, is it difficult distinguishing between tasks that involve nudity and sexual moments?
I really love this question! And I think there are two sides of it, my side and his side. I’m not sure which side he was referring to so I’m going to answer both.
From my side the issue is whether sexual moments are lessened by the fact that he has to help me in vulnerable, and sometimes kind of gross, situations. When we were first together we would often shower together, for example. But now if I wish to stand up in the shower he has to hold me in place. So something that used to be sexual has now become functional.
I do struggle with the idea that he still finds me attractive. Because he has seen me at my most vulnerable and in situations that I would never in a million years have wanted him to see me.
From his perspective he sees this question as being quite different. He sees it as a question of how he separates the sexual desires he would feel seeing me naked with moments where he needs to be my carer. He also talked to me about the shower but from this very different perspective. He said it’s very hard to just stand there holding me in place when we take a shower because I am naked and he just wants to touch me all over. He says for him, it’s about accepting my needs in those moments are greater than his sexual needs and he has to just ignore them in order to help me.
So the reason I love this question was because it led to a conversation with my boyfriend that actually alleviated a great deal of the worries I have over our relationship and helped to reassure me that he still finds me attractive and desirable.

Hey everyone, I hope you’re having a great weekend!
I don’t normally post on the weekend but I wanted to post today because I had a weird dream last night that I want to share. It’s not really disability based but it goes to my general mood at the moment, I suppose.
In my dream I was walking normally and I had a daughter. She was about four, blonde, and I felt that I love her very very much. The dream was about me trying to make her in an Egyptian style dress, you know the sort of thing, white with gold bits.
What was odd though, was, when my boyfriend woke up he told me he had a really weird dream. This was before I’d even mentioned my dream. He told me he dreamt about us, at home, on a normal day. I was in my wheelchair which he thinks is the first time he’s ever dreamt about me disabled. His two kids were there as well. In his dream he was having weird hallucinations and the one that stood out the most was that he hallucinated a small girl, about four, blonde, and wearing a white and gold dress.
How insanely freaky is that!?!? I know it is probably just a coincidence but I wonder, just maybe, we met our future daughter…. I know. But let a girl dream!

So I cried at Britney.
My boyfriend’s daughter was watching music videos and had a 90s playlist on. Hit Me Baby One More Time came on and I just lost it, full blown sobbing. The thing is I used to know every dance move, it was my favourite thing to do at 11. It’s so sad that I’ll never be able to do that again. At least until my consciousness can be transferred into a robot body…..

Like any well behaved toddler I’ve spent some time today playing on the stairs.
I honestly feel like my main issue is hip muscle strength over signal failure. It really just feels like the signal is getting there but I just can’t lift my legs easily. I managed to climb 6 steps in just over 10 minutes (I’d like to see you do better!) but then couldn’t go on. Also I couldn’t get down so had to ride down on a blanket like a toboggan….
I’m going to find some hip exercises and try again in a few days!

Happy Twos Day everyone!
As well as being a palindrome date today is also an important anniversary for my boyfriend and I. It is the anniversary of the day when I got too tipsy and could not control myself any longer, so I jumped him! The day I made the transition from live in nanny to live in nanny with benefits haha.

Last few nights I’ve had this really weird thing, if I wake up and need to move the effort it takes to pull myself into position seems to squeeze my abs, or whatever muscles are there, and in turn squash my stomach causing heartburn. If I don’t take a heartburn pill and stop it immediately, I am sick. I might need to speak to a doctor about this one.
However, also had a new problem yesterday. Last night this exact situation happened quite early in the night, before my boyfriend came to bed. I called out to Siri to intercom the house that I needed urgent help and my boyfriend came running in. I asked him for a towel and he said yes but we also need to call ambulance. He looked really really panicked! I told him I was just sick, and he said no this isn’t just sick.
Long story short, always tell your boyfriend if you drink a litre of cranberry juice before bed! Otherwise accidents like this tend to look a lot worse than they are!

16:45 - I’m about to do some standing practice and (sort of) squats. I try and do this every day to keep up the pretence I’m a bipedal mammal. I’ll be standing for about 10 minutes then will attempt 50 shallow squats. All while holding on to the back of the wheelchair. This one is painful and very scary. But I do it in front of the sofa ready to fall backwards.

14:30 - exercise done! I have crawled, literally, back to my sofa and managed to climb up. I’m going to sit here for a bit and recover. I need some water but it’ll be a little bit before I can go get that.
To answer some questions I’ve been getting a lot of:
- Yes, this is literally my day, no lies.
- I’m not going outside today, it’s cold and wet. I pretty much hibernate during the winter haha

13:00 - Exercises:
The black and red thing is for stretching my legs. I have to get them as far apart as I can, each on one of the outer bars. Then I pull the middle bar towards me and it stretches my legs apart. It’s super painful, but if I take it slow, I can get them quite far apart.
The pink thing is for squeezing between my legs. I’m slow but can consistently do this for about 5 minutes.
The weights are pretty self explanatory, the heavy ones are 2kg and the lighter ones 1kg. I usually follow YouTube workouts for these but struggle. I normally use the 1kg ones. I also have a similar routine for really really bad days where I do it with a pillow haha. But today I’ll use the weights!
Finally this black tube thing goes under my lower back while I lay on the floor. It stretches my back and feels like the work of Satan.
I’ll be back after my exercises to let you know how it all went!
