You don't have to be a "convenient reminder of yourself" to anyone.
You don't have to be a shadow, to be a signal in other people's windows, just to be noticed. If to feel a drop of importance, you have to be a burden, to impose, to squeeze a show out of yourself - this is not about intimacy.
It's about fighting for crumbs. In real contact, you don't have to yell.
They hear you half-heartedly. They remember, they write, they ask, they plan. And I don't mean in bed or in life. I'm talking about the depth where it's clear: you are your own. And if the other side is empty or there is a different current, you don't have to tear your throat out trying to swim to them.
